Mary Garden Project ![]() Tip-toeing to Mary Amy and Andrew J. DiMaggio Jr. of LaPlace don’t have to be told that their 1-year-old daughter Anna Maria is special. They get a glimpse of it every day when the toddler walks out to the front yard of her house and begins an animated conversation with the Blessed Mother. “Whenever she is with us in the front yard, she will always stop playing at some point and walk up to our statue of Mary,” the DiMaggios said. “In this photo, she was holding her hands up and talking to Mary in her own babble language. We hope that this picture will inspire your readers to remember the words of Jesus who said that to enter the kingdom of heaven we must be as open as a child.” New Orleans “Clarion Herald” September 11, 2002 This picture was the inspiration for the Catholic Learning Society’s interest in Mary Garden’s. ![]() This statue is 2’ and is placed on a base of 1’ and is safe for our Minnesota winter. The Catholic Learning Society will provide this statue of Mother Mary as our gift to help you start your Mary Garden. We feel it’s very important at this time in history to help increase devotion to the Blessed Mother. Please talk to pastor, parish council, school principal, teachers, or other parish organizations to begin planting the seeds for your Mary Garden! History of Devotion to Mary Devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary have been popular since the Middle Ages in Europe and much earlier in the Mediterranean countries. The United States began with the Missionaries arrival. She has appeared to some on earth with many confirmed visits. Our Catholic Church is extremely careful to give approval, and some are still in the process. We are helping increase devotion to Mother Mary with our “Mary Garden.” Every time she speaks on her visits, she asks us to pray for PEACE. She has responded to prayer before by helping Christians prevail. Please plant the seeds of prayer so with your Mary Garden we can bloom again worldwide through Mary. Start a Mary Garden In our devotion to Mary in church we venerate Mary as the Mother of God. In the Mary Garden, this devotion is brought outdoors in public view. How to start your Mary Garden: 1. Obtain permission from your pastor. 2. Decide on the spot for the garden. 3. Decide on the type of garden to plant. 4. Contact the Catholic Learning Society to obtain your statue of Mary for your garden. Once your Mary Garden has been prepared have a dedication ceremony. Maybe this could be in conjunction with the crowning of Mary in May. If you build it, they will come. Pictures of Mary Garden’s to help inspire your own Mary Garden.
